THE DAVID CENTER is a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) credited organization serving families of children with autistic spectrum disorders on Long Island, New York. It was established in the fall of 1998 by Dr. Patricia Elvir, a pediatrician, and her husband, Jim Pons.

Like many parents of a child diagnosed with an ASD, they saw the need for a single resource that could provide information, support, and services in a timely manner and with the sensitivity only found in a group of like-minded families. With a board of directors comprised of parents of children with ASDs and other caring professionals, The David Center is becoming a useful resource in the local autism community.
